“If you’re like me, you probably read the beginning and end of Chemical and Engineering News, the weekly ACS magazine, before (and maybe instead of) the stuff in the middle.  The back page of C&EN, Newscripts, was the province of Ken Reese for nearly 35 years.  His eclectic and wry sense of humor made that section the place many of us turned first.

This talk, which is an extension of a presentation made in the late Professor Jack Stocker’s symposium “Whimsy in Chemistry” is a compilation of and commentary on of some of the best and funniest blurbs presented in Newscripts between 1930 and 2000.”
